David Hallock is the first American to hold the title of ASF - Advanced Skill Farrier - through the testing of the Farrier International Testing System - FITS.

David Hallock has been shoeing horses since 2000 in Michigan, Indiana & is a Certified Journeyman Farrier through the American Farriers Association. He has passed the FITS ASF (Advanced Skills Farrier) exam and has been awarded, through examination, his Associate of the Worshipful Company of Farriers (AWCF). He started out cleaning stalls as a teenager, after that he got away from the farms. Later, before he finished high school, he was talking with a friend about getting back to work on a horse farm and she suggested learning to shoe. He looked into it and decided that is what he wanted to do & has loved it ever since!

He now has the roll of being a tester for the American Farrier’s Association examination process and is a regional representative for the associations. He is the facilitator of the Michigan State University Farrier Program along with shoeing his personal book of horses.

He enjoys being outside for his work, helping an unsound horse go sound, the history that farrier work has, & the fact that it is a science, art, & craft all at the same time. His main point of interest & study is in therapeutic work.
